Letter to the editor: Dorchester needs representation

Posted

I am writing today to let the citizens of Dorchester County know that this year’s General Election is crucial to our future and that we all must get out and vote for Tom Hutchinson to be our State Delegate on Nov. 8.

Whether Republican, Democrat or Independent, we need to come together to elect Tom to make sure that Dorchester County has representation in Annapolis. Tom is a highly qualified candidate.

He is a leader within the county, a small business owner and a hard worker with great integrity.  He will bring a common-sense approach to the General Assembly. Fair, balanced and thoughtful are other adjectives that describe Tom well.

Tom bought a property in Woolford over 20 years ago and became a fulltime resident in 2010.  While he may not be “from here,” he has demonstrated to me and many others throughout Dorchester County that he truly cares about our history, our heritage and, most importantly, our Eastern Shore values. He has fit right in right from the start.

While this is not the only reason to vote for Tom, it is important for all of us to know that if Tom is not elected, it may be the first time in the history of Dorchester County that we will not have representation in the General Assembly.

In years past, we have been fortunate to have either a senator or delegate reside in Dorchester County and represent us. Our future will be positively impacted by having strong representation in the House of Delegates.

Get out and let your voice be heard at either early voting from Oct. 27 to Nov. 3 or on Election Day, Nov. 8. Vote for Dorchester County. Vote for our future. Vote for Tom.
