Lawmakers to hold town hall on change to Medicare Advantage

WILMINGTON—As state employees prepare for a change in their medical plan coverage, elected officials will hold an informative town hall on Monday night at Goldy Beacom College.

Rep. Mike Smith, R-Pike Creek, and Rep. Mike Ramone, R-Newark, are hosting the town hall event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Goldy Beacom College event center in the college’s Joseph West Jones Building.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2023, state pensioners will have their Medicare Supplement Plans replaced with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware’s Freedom Blue PPO Medicare Advantage Plan, which will reportedly match the benefits and costs for care offered under the current plan. State pensioners will be able to attend the Q & A session to ask questions and address concerns regarding the change.

The event will feature guest speakers from the Statewide Benefits Office, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware, the Delaware Office of Pensions, and the Delaware Medicare Assistance Bureau.
