Lake Forest Central Girls on the Run team donates to Brooke’s Toy Closet

SEAFORD — The Lake Forest Central Elementary School Girls on the Run team recently contributed to Brooke’s Toy Closet at TidalHealth Nanticoke.

Brooke’s Toy Closet is in honor of Brooke Mulford, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at age 4. She created the idea in 2014, for children seeking medical attention at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Maryland, so they could receive a toy to take home.

Brooke lost her battle to cancer in June 2017, after an eight-year battle with aggressive cancer.

The closet expanded its reach to TidalHealth Nanticoke in March 2022.
The Girls on the Run team collected donations from many staff members and students at Lake Forest Central. Heather Beauchamp, the school’s psychologist, and Ashley Hastings, an occupational therapist, are the Girls on the Run coaches, and delivered the toys to the hospital.

The donation drive was organized by technology teacher and GOTR coach Danna Carter and Ms. Hastings.
