Judith M. Mills, of Magnolia, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Born on December 1, 1949, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Judith was the beloved eldest daughter of George and Beatrice Strittmater. Growing up in a vibrant and hardworking farm family as the oldest of ten siblings, she learned the values of dedication, kindness, and community from a young age. Judith's roots were deeply entwined with the community where she attended the Church of the Crucifixion in La Crescent, Minnesota.
On May 28, 1994, she married her soulmate, Dean Mills, and together they embarked on a beautiful journey filled with laughter, love, and endless supportive moments. Judith's warmth and infectious smile could light up any room, embracing everyone within her\ presence as if they were family.
A proud Senior Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force, Judith dedicated 21 years to serving her country as a skilled recruiter. After her military career, she continued her commitment to service through a successful second career with the State of Delaware in the Division of Information and Technology. Yet, her greatest joy came from being a devoted mother and grandmother. Judith was the ultimate champion for her family, always cheering them on and celebrating their every achievement, big and small.
Judith had a green thumb, nurturing not only her beautiful garden but also the relationships with her close friends, whom she cherished dearly. She understood the power of connection and was always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand to those in need.
Judith was preceded in death by her loving parents, as well as her brother, Doug Strittmater; sisters, Rita, Barbie, and Suzi Strittmater; and brother-in-law, Bill Warren.
Her spirit lives on in her husband, Dean Mills; her beloved children, Benjamin Fay and wife Stephanie, Brian Fay and wife Robin, and Gabrielle Fay; stepsons, Stephen Mills and David Mills; and her treasured grandchildren, Ethan, Owen, Madison, Sienna, Evan, Sydney, and Trevor, Justin, and David Jr. Judith is also survived by her devoted brothers, Donald Strittmater and wife Beatrice, William Strittmater; and her loving sisters, Jean Kathan and husband Jeff, Carol Strittmater, and Betty Warren. Judith will also be deeply missed by her many friends, including her best friend Janine and her husband Michael Townsend.
Family and friends are welcome to join us for visitation on Saturday, March 8, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, (Rt. 10), Dover. The memorial service to honor her remarkable life will directly follow at 12 noon.
Interment to be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966, on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 11:00 am.
In Judith's memory, we encourage acts of kindness and compassion in your own lives, reflecting the light that she brought into ours. She will be forever missed, but her legacy of love and support will continue to inspire us all.
