John Phillip (Phil) Simmons, 68

    John Phillip (Phil) Simmons of Lewes, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Accent Hospice Care in Wilmington, DE.
    Phil was the son of the late Ralph B. and Doris (Jester) Simmons.
    Phil was a Union Iron Worker before opening Simmons Canvas, which he operated for over 30 years. Later in life, he and his wife, Ida, owned and operated Happy Go Lucky campground in Lewes.
    He enjoyed canvas work and improving the campground. Phil, an avid Carnival cruiser, enjoyed talking to people, and spending time with family.
    In addition to both parents, Phil was preceded in death by his brother, Chuck.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ida (Daniels) Simmons; two daughters, Lisa Henson of VA, and Joyce Sharp and husband Curtis, of Milford; grandchildren, CJ Sharp and wife Jayle, Blaire Sharp, Ezra Sharp, and Kylee Henson; a great-grandchild, Drake Gray; and his sister Wanda Coker and husband Gary of Smyrna.
    Arrangements are in the care of Berry-Short Funeral Home in Milford, DE. Services will be private.
