    James Earl Crouse, affectionately known as Skip to his friends and family, passed away March 5, 2025. Skip was born on September 27, 1934 in Easton, MD to Earl M. and I. Ruth Crouse. He graduated from Denton High School, Wesley College in Dover, DE and then he went on to graduate from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Skip began his professional career in Gordy’s Drug Store on Main Street in Salisbury, MD. Skip had a long career as supervisor of pharmacy at Peninsula General Hospital from 1961-1991. After retiring from PGH, Skip continued to serve his community by working part time in local pharmacies until he was 80 years old. Skip was an active member in the Eastern Shore Pharmaceutical Association and Trinity United Methodist Church. Skip and his loving wife, Kay, enjoyed traveling. They have thousands of stories and photos to share about their many adventures. Skip was an excellent woodworker. He also loved being on the water, was an avid sailor and restored an Applegarth Skipjack. He made beautiful crafts for family and friends. Skip walked and exercised daily. He enjoyed reading and history. He was greatly loved by his family, friends, and community. For the last 3 months Skip was a resident in the Memory Care Neighborhood at Mallard Landing in Salisbury. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff for his care. Skip is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Ruth and grandson James Michael Crouse. Skip is survived by his sisters Peggy (Bob) and Anna Lee (Mary Ann) as well as his wife of 65 years, Kay, his sons James (Susan) and Philip (Amy), 3 granddaughters Lauren (Ben), Natalie, Sarah (Asa) and 3 greatgranddaughters Marley, Sunny, and Rowen.
    A Celebration of Life service was held Friday, March 14 at 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church (112 High Street, Salisbury, MD) with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. Vaughn Hayden officiated. There will be a private burial at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or Hope And Life Outreach (HALO).
