DAGSBORO — Indian River High School logged another strong showing at the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference, as its BPA chapter captured the Professional Cup Award for the first time.

The award recognizes the chapter’s community engagement, service and leadership through BPA with an emphasis on high levels of active student involvement in the prestigious Torch Awards Program.

Additionally, IR student Lanaya Haynes was successful in her election to the BPA State Officer Leadership Team. She will serve as SOLT treasurer for the 2021-22 school year.

IRHS students also excelled in the competitive events.

Vicky Chan placed first in Business Meeting Management, second place in both Banking & Finance and Fundamental Word Processing and fourth place in three other categories: Financial Math & Analysis Concepts, Administrative Support Concepts and Management, Marketing & Human Resources Concepts.

Lanaya placed first in Advanced Interview Skills and fourth in Payroll Accounting.

Isaac Chandler earned second place in Computer Programming Concepts, and Misty Hickman placed fifth in Advanced Spreadsheet Apps.

These students have qualified to represent IRHS, the Indian River School District and the state of Delaware at the Virtual National Leadership Conference in May.
