Gov. John Carney, First Lady Tracey Quillen Carney announce Delaware's new school registration system

SEAFORD—Gov. John Carney and First Lady Tracey Quillen Carney announced the implementation of a new school registration system on Monday.

The registration system, authorized by Senate Bill 82, simplifies the process for parents and families throughout the state and includes many of their suggestions such as providing 24/7 access to forms, ensuring that all families have access to register their children for school, providing forms in English, Spanish, and other languages, and launching a data system that allows sharing across school districts when families move.

On Monday, Ms. Carney demonstrated the new registration process at the Seaford District Library to encourage kindergarten registration. Alongside Ms. Carney was Secretary of Education Mark Holodick and Diane Frentzel, program manager of the Delaware Readiness Teams. Guests were invited to participate in a Kindergarten Academy activity by the Delaware Readiness Team at the event.

Hours later, Ms. Carney, Sec. Holodick, and Ms. Frentzel traveled to the Harrington Public Library for another demonstration of the new registration process.

A third registration demonstration will take place at the Wilmington Public Library on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m., where Ms. Carney, Sec. Holodick, and Ms. Frentzel will be joined by library staff and members of the General Assembly.
