HARRINGTON — A 37-year-old Georgetown man was charged with motor vehicle theft Saturday following an incident that ended with a crash south of Farmington, authorities said.
According to Harrington police, Dorian U. Armstrong allegedly stole a vehicle from a Harrington residence before an accident on Marsh Branch Road. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment, then taken into custody upon release, spokesman Capt. Earl Brode said.
Harrington police initially went to the crash scene at 11:42 a.m. to assist Delaware State Police, Capt. Brode said. Officers were then called to a residence for a stolen-vehicle report and determined it was allegedly the one Mr. Armstrong had been driving, police said.
Capt. Brode said Mr. Armstrong also was wanted by Maryland State Police in connection with a vehicle-theft case.
Following arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 7, Dover, Mr. Armstrong was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $2,000 cash-only bond. Police said Mr. Armstrong was awaiting extradition to Maryland.
