Georgetown man charged with manslaughter

GEORGETOWN — A 26-year-old Georgetown man was charged with manslaughter after a shooting incident left a woman dead Tuesday night.

According to authorities, Jordan Walls was showing the 54-year-old woman his weapon when it discharged. Police said a 20-gauge shotgun was recovered at the scene.

The female was pronounced dead at the residence in the 22000 block of Deep Branch Road. Troopers were called to the scene at approximately 6:07.

Identification of the victim is pending notification to next of kin, authorities said.

Mr. Walls was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $120,000 cash bond.
