GEORGETOWN — Delaware State Police have charged 37-year-old Carlton Breasure of Georgetown with aggravated menacing after they said he displayed a gun at victim during a road rage incident.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 7:10 p.m. Friday, when troopers responded to the intersection of Piglet Path and Seashore Highway, Georgetown, in reference to a road rage complaint involving a weapon.

The investigation determined a 60-year-old male victim was stopped at the intersection when a tan 2005 Chrysler Sebring turned northbound on Piglet Path in front of the victim’s vehicle, police said.

The suspect, later identified as Mr. Breasure, then stopped his vehicle, exited and allegedly began arguing with the victim. During the argument Mr. Breasure allegedly threatened the victim and displayed a shotgun toward him. The victim fled the scene and contacted police.

Upon arrival, troopers located Mr. Breasure at the intersection and took him into custody without incident, police said.

Troopers recovered a 12-gauge shotgun inside Mr. Breasure’s vehicle. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident, police said.

Mr. Breasure was transported to Troop 4, where he was charged with aggravated menacing, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, terroristic threatening, and driving while suspended.

He also was charged with failure to have registration card in possession and failure to have insurance card in possession.

Mr. Breasure was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $239,600 cash bond.
