Fur Baby Pet Resort cuts ribbon on new building in Milford

MILFORD — The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Fur Baby Pet Resort last week, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the business and its new location in Milford.

The event was held at the new 10,000-square-foot building at 301 N.E. Front St. on Saturday. Chamber members, friends and staff joined owner Sherry Shupe and her team.

Servicing Delaware since 2011, Fur Baby is a pet boutique, day care, hotel and spa. The mission at Fur Baby Pet Resort is to create an environment in which pet parents can gather to strengthen their bond with their pets.

Recognizing the evolving landscape of the pet industry, Fur Baby expanded the boutique to include holistic services, such as doggie day care, an overnight hotel, spa grooming and a grocery.

The establishment is part of the rehabilitation of the riverfront property in downtown Milford that had been abandoned for over 20 years. The land, now known as the Mispillion Gateway, leads into Milford’s Downtown Development District and hosts two growing businesses.

Upon relocation to Delaware from Annapolis, Maryland, Ms. Shupe chose Milford because of its strong sense of community.

Fur Baby Pet Resort partners with local veterinarians to provide opportunities for low-cost wellness visits through on-site clinics, as well as encourages fostering and adopting, both on-site and at rescues and shelters locally.

In its new location on the gateway to downtown Milford, the hope is to serve the community in a larger role by inviting local organizations and businesses to partner to promote positive causes.
