DOVER — Four men suffered what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries during a shooting incident at the IHOP restaurant early Sunday, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

According to authorities, officers went to the scene on South Little Creek Road at approximately 2:38 a.m. after multiple shots fired reports. Upon arrival, they contacted a 30-year-old man in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to the cheek, Sgt. Hoffman said.

As the man was being treated and transported from the scene, police were notified that three men ages 22, 23 and 25 had been privately transported to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus, Sgt. Hoffman said.

The 22-year-old had suffered an ankle wound, the 23-year-old was struck in the lower leg and the 25-year-old had an abdomen injury, police said.

Police at the scene were told that two men had allegedly fled in a black Dodge Charger immediately after the shooting, Sgt. Hoffman said. A vehicle matching that description was located in the area of the hospital, according to authorities.

The vehicle left the area at a high speed before being stopped in the area of South Governors Avenue and West North Street. Smyrna residents Akeem Ferrell, 22, and Anthony Watson, 21, were taken into custody without incident, police said.

Police said Mr. Ferrell was allegedly found in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

A 9mm handgun was located in the vehicle’s glove compartment during a search warrant execution, police said.

Mr. Ferrell was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by person prohibited, second-degree conspiracy, non-compliance with bond conditions, and possession of marijuana. He was released after posting a $4,000 secured bond.

Mr. Watson was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and second-degree conspiracy. He was released on an own recognizance bond.

Sgt. Hoffman said investigation continued, including into whether Mr. Ferrell and Mr. Watson were possibly involved in the shooting incident.
