Flora Melvin, 101

Mrs. Flora Melvin was born in Florida to Charles Homelius and Cora Burress. Flora lived a good long life reaching the age of 101. She died on Nov. 15, 2024 in Dover, DE.

Flora became the widow of Mr. Elwyn Stephens in 1945 when he died in WW2. They were the parents of Charles Stephens and Carole (Stephens) Baxter. In 1949, she married Wilbert Melvin, Jr. They were married for 55 years. On their vacations they loved to travel and visited just about every state including Hawaii. They also had an exciting trip to Israel.

Flora was employed by the Playtex Corporation for over 30 years. She regularly attended the Methodist Church and volunteered many years with the church's Clothes Closet. Flora's hobby was crocheting and she crafted numerous beautiful afghans.

The memorial service will be held at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024 at 1 p.m. Visitation is between 12 noon and 1 p.m.

Interment will take place at the Sharon Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Dover.
