DEWEY BEACH - A firefighter suffered a minor injury while responding to an accidental residential fire Sunday, authorities said.

The incident in the 100 block of Jersey Street was reported shortly before 6 p.m., according to Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office spokesman John Galaska said. The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Company responded and found smoke and flames coming from the structure. Mutual aid fire companies assisted at the scene.

State fire investigators were called to the scene and performed an investigation to determine the origin and cause. The cause of the fire was the result of an electrical malfunction.

Damage is estimated at $100,000. No injuries to occupants of the home were reported.
