Felton man charged with felony DUI

Posted

CAMDEN - David McAdams, 55, of Felton, was arrested for felony following a traffic stop at 2:01 p.m. Monday afternoon, Delaware State Police said.

Spokesman Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said that at approximately 2:01 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a tan GMC pickup truck traveling southbound on Hazlettville Road near Bryants Corner Road. The trooper saw the truck swerve on the roadway and cross the solid white shoulder line several times, police said.

The trooper stopped the pickup on Westville Road and contacted the driver and only occupant, Mr. David McAdams, police said. The trooper detected signs of impairment, police said, and smelled alcohol coming from Mr. McAdams’ breath, and smelled burnt marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.

Mr. McAdams was subsequently taken into custody without incident. A search of the truck led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia, police said, and computer checks of Mr. McAdams showed that he has four prior convictions for DUI.

Mr. McAdams was charged with fifth offense DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to remain within a single lane. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $6,002 secured bond.
