Felony drug charges follow stop in Seaford

SEAFORD -Dwayne Deshields, 45, of Bridgeville, Deshawn Magee, 44, of Seaford, were arrested on felony drug charges following a traffic stop Friday, Delaware State Police spokesperson Senior Cpl. Jason Hatchell said.

Authorities said Mr. Deshields was stopped at approximately 8:57 p.m. while driving in a vehicle with an improper brake light. The vehicle was westbound on Old Furnace Road with a failure to signal properly offense was observed as well, police said.

Police said Mr. Deshields was found to have a suspended license and active capias. He was taken into custody without incident.

While speaking with Mr. Magee, police said, troopers observed suspected drugs in plain view inside of the vehicle. After a brief struggle, Mr. Magee was taken into custody, police said.

According to Cpl. Hatchell, troopers discovered approximately 8.88 grams of cocaine, approximately .38 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 21.74 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and over $750 in suspected drug proceeds.

Mr. Deshields was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, second-degree conspiracy, and numerous traffic violations. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released on his own recognizance.

Mr. Magee was charged with possession charges including with intent to deliver a controlled substance, controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana, and second-degree conspiracy. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released on $3,801 unsecured bond.
