Eighth-offense DUI arrest made in Dover

DOVER — Christopher Harris, 44, of Cheswold, was arrested on an eighth-offense DUI charge Sunday, Dover police said.

Sgt. Mark Hoffman said officers were called to the parking lot of the 7-Eleven, 654 N. DuPont Highway, at approximately 3:57 a.m. for a report of a person slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle. When officers arrived, they contacted Mr. Harris, who was in the driver’s seat while the vehicle was running.

Officers performed field sobriety tests on Mr. Harris, determined he was under the influence of alcohol and took him into custody without incident.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $20,000 cash bond.
