MAGNOLIA — Two men were arrested after a loaded handgun and marijuana were found in a vehicle during a traffic stop Thursday, Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.
Driver Xavier T. Daniels, 22, of Milford, and passenger Thomas R. Hoskins, 21, of Felton, were stopped in a vehicle with an expired registration, authorities said. The stop occurred at approximately 1:10 p.m. in the area of Peachtree Run and Irish Hill Road.
A vehicle search ensued, and a Taurus G3 9 mm handgun was found, along with a bag containing marijuana, police said. Both men were taken into custody without incident.
Mr. Hoskins was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of marijuana for personal use. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2, Rehoboth Beach, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $7,500 secured bond.
Mr. Daniels was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of marijuana other than personal use, possession of drug paraphernalia and expired tags. He was arraigned in JP Court 2 and released on a $6,100 unsecured bond.
