LEWES — TidalHealth announces Bhaskar Palekar, MD, FACP has joined TidalHealth Primary Care in Lewes.

Dr. Palekar received his medical degree from LTM Medical College at Bombay University in Bombay, India, and completed his internal medicine residency at the Episcopal Campus affiliated with Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., where he was chief resident his last two years. 

Dr. Palekar is board-certified in internal medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and has served as the specialty representative on its Medical Society Board of Trustees. Dr. Palekar also belongs to several other societies including the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians. He has served as a Sussex County delegate for many years with the Medical Society of Delaware. 

Dr. Palekar spent several years in private practice, then at Beebe Healthcare, where he was President of the Medical Staff, then Chief of the Medical Staff.  He also served on Beebe’s Board of Directors and was chairman of the Board from 1992-1997.

He was recognized by Delaware Today in 1992 as the Best Rated Physician in Internal Medicine, among many other awards including receiving the Laureate Award of the American College of Physicians, Delaware chapter. Because of his decades-long commitment to providing quality healthcare to Sussex County, Dr. Palekar received an honorary tribute from Gov. John Carney. In 2023, Dr. Palekar received the Physician Philanthropy Award honored by the Beebe Medical Foundation.
