DOVER — Gastroenterologist Dr. Bhavin R. Dave has joined Bayhealth Gastroenterology.

Bayhealth's gastroenterology practice in Dover is now open in a newly renovated location at 793 S. Queen St. and is accepting new patients.

For more than 20 years, Dr. Dave has been on the Bayhealth staff and has provided compassionate specialty care to the community. He previously had his own private medical practice, GI Consultants in Dover. He helps patients suffering from conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, such as irritable bowel syndrome, liver diseases including hepatitis C, global gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and pancreatic disorders. He offers colorectal cancer screenings, as well.

Skilled in a range of advanced methods, Dr. Dave also performs double-look colonoscopy, which enhances detection of certain kinds of polyps to identify colorectal cancer, enabling patients to get earlier treatment with better results.

Dr. Dave will be joined this summer by two new gastroenterologists, Dr. Muhammad Hanafi and Dr. Michael Bartel. Physician assistant Stephanie Nguyen also will be joining the practice. Ms. Nguyen is a recent graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine-Georgia Campus with a master's degree in physician assistant studies.

“Bayhealth is very excited to have an expanded practice and such a talented medical team to serve the gastroenterology needs of our community,” Vice President of Physician Services Dina Perry said in a news release. “We’re proud to improve local access to specialty care so our providers can help more patients with screenings and preventative steps to reduce the risks of colorectal cancer and other conditions.”

To schedule an appointment at Bayhealth Gastroenterology, call 744-9310. Colorectal cancer screenings can be scheduled directly through the practice, and often, an office appointment is not necessary. Visit the website to learn more about this practice and other providers.
