On Saturday, June 21 Division Street in Salisbury was transformed into a hub of music, dance, food, and community fellowship honoring the historic Juneteenth holiday.
Juneteenth, officially celebrated as a federal holiday on June 19th, commemorates the date in 1865 when word of President Lincoln's emancipation proclamation, issued on January 1, 1863, was finally delivered by U.S. Troops to enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas.
