Downtown Dover pop-up shop opportunity open for this season

DOVER — The Downtown Dover Partnership announced Friday that it has created a last-minute opportunity for a small business wanting to try out a brick-and-mortar location to reach customers this holiday season.

The DDP is seeking applications for businesses to set up shop in a pop-up micro-retail store at 136 W. Loockerman St.

The pop-up opportunity is available from Dec. 15 to Dec. 31.

“Qualified applicants are successful, established business owners, some of whom may be considering expanding into brick-and-mortar locations,” said DDP Executive Director Diane Laird. “The ideal retailer will be ready to merchandise this 400-square-foot space and sell items suitable for last-minute gift shoppers, including pre-packaged-only food/beverage items that require no on-site preparation we believe.”

The space is move-in-ready and is a handicapped-accessible first-floor retail space, with large display windows.

The DDP will require signature of a short-term lease, and a fee of $200 for Dec. 15-31 to include standard utilities of Wi-Fi, electricity and water. A refundable security deposit and liability insurance will also be required.

Interested business owners should be prepared to complete an online application, in which they will be required to provide a 75-word summary of their business, description of products to be sold, and commit to being able to open for business by Dec. 15 and operational at least four days a week for five hours a day.

For details and to be considered for this quick turnaround program, the application may be accessed here.
