Dover to draw down Silver Lake water level

Posted

DOVER - The City of Dover, with a recommendation from the Silver Lake Commission, will be performing a drawdown of Silver Lake beginning Oct. 10, a news release said.

The drawdown will continue through Oct. 21. All efforts will be put forth to ensure the fish and other water species are not harmed in any manner during this short draw down period, according to the city.

This is a scheduled drawdown and the city wants to make residents aware as not to cause alarm should they notice the lake water level changing. This will be an opportunity for lake-side residents to clean up debris and other items on their property.

The drawdown is weather dependent, the city said. If there are periods of precipitation during the time of the drawdown, it is likely the water level will not have notable change.

Clean-up events are planned throughout the year. In addition to cleaning up around the park area, the city is considering lake awareness activities such as a flotilla event, kayak-canoe tours, educational displays and more.
