Dover man sentenced for officer impersonation

WILMINGTON — David Perrera, 50, of Dover, has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for impersonating a federal officer, authorities said in a news release Tuesday.

The sentence was announced by Chief U.S. District Judge Colm F. Connolly.

In court documents, U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware David Weiss said Perrera called a sheriff’s office in Tennessee from Delaware pretending to be a member of the U.S. Marshals Service. Perrera used this false identity to obtain personal information about an individual, including that person’s address and the make and model of their vehicle, Mr. Weiss said.
