Dover man arrested on drug and weapon charges

CHESWOLD - Raekwon Jackson, 22, of Dover was arrested on drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop on Monday night, Delaware State Police said.

Spokesman Senior Cpl. Jason Hatchell said Mr. Jackson was driving a Nissan Altima without a headlight when stopped in the area of Route 13 and Main Street when stopped at approximately 8:36 p.m.

Immediately upon contacting Mr. Jackson, police said, a trooper detected an odor of marijuana emitting from inside of the vehicle. Mr. Jackson was detained without incident and a probable cause search was conducted.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 15.19 grams of marijuana, and a loaded Diamond Back 9mm handgun, police said.

Mr. Jackson was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of marijuana (civil), failure to have insurance identification in possession, failure to have two head lamps, and failure to have license in possession. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on a $2,750 unsecured bond.
