Dover man arrested after brief car chase

DOVER — An 18-year-old male was arrest by Dover police officers early Monday following a brief vehicle pursuit.

Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said officers responded to the area of Lexington Place and Nicholas Drive in reference to several subjects being loud at approximately 12:17 a.m. When they attempted to contact the group, the subjects began entering vehicles and attempted to leave.

Jemeire Perry fled in his vehicle, nearly striking one of the officers on scene, according to Master Cpl. Schmid. Mr. Perry was taken into custody without incident at the conclusion of a brief vehicle pursuit.

After speaking with Mr. Perry, it was determined that he was allgedly under the influence and a blood search warrant was obtained and executed at Bayhealth Kent Campus.

Mr. Perry was released on his own recognizance on the following charges: second-degree reckless endangering, reckless driving, driving under the influence, disregarding a police signal and multiple traffic offenses.

A female passenger was also given a civil citation for possession of a small amount of marijuana. Two other occupants were released with no charges.
