Dorchester County Public Schools superintendent to propose calendar changes

Posted

CAMBRIDGE - Due to October fog and floods and January snows, Superintendent W. David Bromwell has been looking at ways to make up days in which schools were closed.

At this week’s Board of Education meeting, he will propose some calendar changes: Thursday, Jan. 27, would become a regular school day for students and staff; Friday, Jan. 28, would be an early dismissal day for students and a report card prep day for staff; and the new semester and new classes for secondary students would begin Monday, Jan. 31.

Looking further ahead, Mr. Bromwell will also ask the Board to make Tuesday, April 19, a regular school day. These proposed calendar changes are contingent upon approval by the Board of Education and will be decided at the Thursday, Jan. 20, meeting after which administrators will make DCPS families aware of the outcome.
