Dorchester council candidate Detmer visits Brookview commissioners

BROOKVIEW - At a recent town meeting of the Brookview commissioners, County Council Candidate Mike Detmer stopped by to introduce himself.

His full statement follows: “The journey of being a political candidate is different than anything I’ve done, it’s unknown and uncertain.

“But I will tell you this, when I start talking with the good people in this county about the issues that are important to them, I find myself on very familiar ground.

“The issues are what I live and breathe and think about every day. And the people are the absolute salt of the earth, the heartbeat of this beautiful county. Beyond talking to them about a better future for our county, it’s a pleasure to find that most are a degree or two of separation away from me in terms of who they are related to, where they live(d), or where they work.

“Dorchester is full of people who are worth working for, worth fighting for. I’m honored for the chance to try to earn their votes for Dorchester County Council District 5 in the upcoming primary election.”

Brookview is one of the smallest incorporated towns in the state, with a population at the most recent census of 60. It is located on Marshyhope Creek in North Dorchester.

The present 2021 council consists of Mayor Clint Falduto, Commissioner Mary Falduto and Commissioner Shelly Hurley. The incumbent County Council member for District 5 is Libby Nagel.

Mr. Detmer is an employee of Adams Publishing Group LLC, publishers of newspapers including the Star Democrat and the Dorchester Star.
