Donnie Brinsfield, of Crisfield, died at home peacefully with his wife by his side on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
Born in Havre De Grace, MD, he was a son of the late Claude Leslie and Virginia Griffin Brinsfield.
Donnie was a 1963 graduate of Crisfield High School and served in the US Coast Guard and US Coast Guard Reserves for several years.
He worked on the water until his early 40’s, then worked making crab pots until 2021.
He is survived by his wife, Candy; son, Arthur “Artie” Brinsfield; daughter, Mary Beth Brinsfield (Kees Slot); sons, Andy Brinsfield and Bryan Brinsfield; grandchildren, Kamerin Hull, Izzy Davis, and Jeremy Davis; brothers-in-law, Bobby Bromley (Pam) and Jack Bromley (Alice); sister-in-law, Sue Bromley-Hersey (Jack); special friends, Greg Nelson and family, whom he loved like a son, Stevie Sterling, Mary Jane Wells, Michelle Taylor, Sterling Clough, Steve Willing, and the rest of the crew at Gordon’s; several nieces and nephews; his beloved cat, Piggy; and his furry grandchildren, Major and Nickie.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Lindy and Mary Jane Bromley; brother, Les Brinsfield; sister-in-law, Linda Coburn; and Tiffany Scott, whom he loved like a daughter.
The family would like to thank Chaplin Chet; nurses, Mckenzie and Carol; most importantly hospice aide, Amy, who went above and beyond taking care of Donnie; and all of the other hospice staff who cared for him. Wanting to help others, he graciously donated his body to Anatomy Gifts Registry.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 1 PM at the Crisfield American Legion. Pastor Stephen S. Willing will officiate. Donnie's request was to have everyone dress casual.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802, or to Humane Society of Somerset County, P.O. Box 493, Princess Anne, MD 21853.
