I am a lifelong Democrat, and I have no intention of ever changing my party affiliation, particularly in the current political environment. But I also care deeply about my home state of Delaware and who I feel is best suited to work for us, the people of the First State.
That’s why I’m very excited to be casting a vote for lieutenant governor Nov. 5 for my friend and colleague, Ruth Briggs King.
I have worked alongside Ruth for much of the last two decades, and I know her to be a fair and principled person, someone who will always work for the betterment of her constituents, regardless of whose name they checked off in the voting booth.
During her time leading the Sussex County Association of Realtors, I was lucky enough to occupy the office next door to Ruth, and I personally witnessed her advocacy efforts daily, both on behalf of the association’s members and on behalf of the county and the state of Delaware.
She and her husband, Stan King, have been part of the fabric of southern Delaware their entire lives, and they have our issues and our interests at heart at all times. Why? Because our issues are also their issues.
It’s hard to imagine two people that have Delaware in their blood more than Ruth and Stan. If you want someone who is also going to put Delaware first and work tirelessly for the betterment and improvement of our beloved state, there’s no one better suited for the job than Ruth Briggs King.
I will be voting a straight Democratic ticket in 2024, with one exception — and that’s Ruth Briggs King for lieutenant governor. I urge you to do the same Nov. 5.
