The Delaware Department of Labor has named Chris Counihan to the newly created position of Healthy Delaware Families Act implementation manager.
Mr. Counihan, who joined the department Aug. 29, will be responsible for rolling out the act’s programs, which will impact families, workers and employers throughout Delaware.
Most recently, he served as a legislative aide to New Castle County Council, where he worked on policy research and initiatives, including paid family leave.
Mr. Counihan will report directly to Labor Secretary Karryl Hubbard.
Gov. John Carney signed the Healthy Delaware Families Act in May, creating the Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program. The legislation makes Delaware the 10th state to offer such leave for many of its workers.
