DelDOT to host workshop on Park Avenue relocation in Georgetown

Posted

GEORGETOWN — The second phase of the Park Avenue relocation project will be the focus of a Delaware Department of Transportation virtual public workshop Oct. 13.

The presentation will begin at 4 p.m. and will be followed by a question-and-answer session with project team members.

A link for the meeting will be made available on DelDOT’s website, where a recording of the workshop will be accessible afterward.

DelDOT is seeking input on the proposed widening of Park Avenue to accommodate turn lanes and shoulders from west of Cedar Lane to U.S. 9, near Georgetown.

The project also includes widening along Lewes-Georgetown Highway and Shingle Point Road to accommodate turn lanes. It continues improvements initiated under Phase 1 of the Park Avenue relocation initiative, which seeks to improve traffic operations and safety of the U.S. 9 truck bypass from east of Georgetown to U.S. 113.

The purpose of the workshop is to present the semifinal design and update the public on the final draft and construction schedule. The information will be provided in a PDF format for review and comment. Attendees will also have the option to download materials.

Residents can access the website and provide comment for 30 days, beginning Monday.
Online comment forms will also be provided, and interested persons are invited to express their views in writing by mail (DelDOT Community Relations, P.O. Box 778, Dover, DE 19903) or by email (dotpr@delaware.gov). The deadline is Oct. 26.
