REHOBOTH BEACH — Work on the Rehoboth Beach extension of the Breakwater Pathway will begin March 8.
The work will be carried out by the Delaware Department of Transportation through its contractor, Grassbusters Landscaping Inc., between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays.
Motorists should expect lane and/or shoulder closures. The construction should be complete by Memorial Day.
The project will finish a low-stress bicycle connection into Rehoboth Beach from the Junction Breakwater Trail network.
“The project includes the connection of a ten-foot-wide asphalt trail through private property from Canal Street to Rehoboth Avenue and the development of a two-way buffered bicycle lane along Rehoboth Avenue to Grove Park within the city,” a DelDOT press release said.
The work will also include paving, concrete sidewalks, signage, striping, site amenities and fencing.
