Delaware EARNS Board to hold inaugural meeting Oct. 4

DOVER — With the implementation of the Delaware Expanding Access for Retirement and Necessary Savings Act underway, the inaugural EARNS board will meet Oct. 4.

The group will meet in a hybrid setting at 10:30 a.m. The in-person meeting will take place in the main conference room of the Webb Building in Dover, while virtual attendees can join by visiting here.

Enacted by legislation that was sponsored by Rep. Larry Lambert, D-Claymont, and Sen. Nicole Poore, D-New Castle, the board will oversee the initial design and implementation of the program.

As of August, the Office of the State Treasurer was in the process of hiring an executive director, who will be responsible for providing oversight of the effort and working with the Delaware EARNS Program Board. Board members include the state treasurer, secretary of finance, insurance commissioner, secretary of labor, the Plans Management Board chairperson and two members of the public chosen by the governor.

While the agenda for the Oct. 4 meeting has not yet been released, it will begin the state’s initiative to help nearly 150,000 Delawareans receive access to a retirement savings plan.
