DOVER — The Delaware Diabetes Coalition will host the 22nd annual Diabetes Wellness Expo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 12 at Delaware Technical Community College’s Terry Campus in the Del-One Conference Center.
Hosted annually in November for National Diabetes Month, the free expo brings together healthcare providers, businesses, diabetes-related organizations, and others to promote diabetes self-management and a healthier lifestyle for people with diabetes.

The event will include more than 35 exhibitors and an educational program presented by health leaders.
The keynote presentation on the Art of Happiness will be presented by Dr. Steve Goodwin from the University of Delaware. There will also be a panel highlighting The Vital Role of Specialists in Diabetes Management and free health screenings (diabetes and blood pressure, stress assessment, foot exams) and vaccinations. A free box lunch catered by the Food Bank of Delaware will be available to all attendees with proceeds benefiting their Culinary School.

More than 95,000 Delaware adults reported in 2021 that they had been diagnosed with diabetes, according to the Delaware Behavioral Risk Factor Survey. The survey also shows that 84,800 additional Delaware adults reported being diagnosed with pre-diabetes. Progression to type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed by losing weight, engaging in at least 150 minutes of physical activity weekly, and improving one's diet.
The Delaware Diabetes Coalition, Inc. is a statewide nonprofit organization comprised of a network of healthcare organizations working together to improve the lives of all people in Delaware affected by diabetes through awareness, prevention, identification, dissemination of services and advocacy.
