The Disabled American Veterans, Department of Maryland recently donated $15,000 to the Veterans Affairs (VA) Maryland Health Care System to benefit veteran patients throughout the state.

The donation will be used to support patient programs and activities at the Baltimore, Loch Raven and Perry Point VA Medicals. The funds will be specifically utilized to purchase new bedside televisions, medical equipment, diversional recreation activities, transportation, holiday gifts, new wheelchairs, and complimentary coffee.

“The generosity of the Disabled American Veterans, Department of Maryland makes it possible for us to enhance the services and programs we provide to veterans,” said Jonathan R. Eckman, director of the VA Maryland Health Care System. “It also sends an important message to our hospitalized veterans that they are appreciated and that their service in the armed forces has not been forgotten.”

The VA Maryland Health Care System, which includes the Baltimore, Loch Raven and Perry Point VA Medical Centers, in addition to the Cambridge, Eastern Baltimore County, Fort Meade, Glen Burnie and Pocomoke City VA Outpatient Clinics, is dedicated to providing safe, quality and compassionate care to more than 53,000 veterans in Central Maryland and on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
