DOVER — Fathers and sons, dads and daughters.

Jeremy Hall of Millsboro took four of his kids to Saturday’s Dover Comic Con 2022 and was enjoying life on Father’s Day weekend.

“I love my kids and this is for them, but it’s for me too because it’s the time I get to spend with them,” he said of his two sons and two daughters who joined him.

“I spend much of my time during the week working out of town, so I want to make the most of the time whenever possible.

“This is just a great time out together.”

After agreeing that her dad was cool, Genevieve, 11, said she likes the way “He wakes up and we can go to fun places.”

Genevieve and her 4-, 7-, and 9-year-old siblings had plenty to get to, their dad said.

“They enjoy all sorts of anime, Pokemon, cartoons, “Star Wars,” “Star Trek,” Hogwarts, Harry Potter,” he said. “Everyone has their thing.

“It’s kind of a whole family affair.”

Attendees — both costumed and in summer wear on a mild day — strolled through the downtown area amidst more than 100 different exhibitors associated with Comic Con, produced by the Delaware State News with the support of many local businesses.

Activities were scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., including gaming competitions, comic book illustration, costume contests and more.

Upon arrival, stroller-pushing Dover resident Chris Lawless said buying a Spider-Man action figure for his 2-year-old son Micah was a must.

He wants to get out and see all the people,” Mr. Lawless said.

“He likes the food and root beer we got. It’s just good for Father’s Day (weekend) to get out, especially since it’s a nice, cool day.”

Cassie Warga, 16, of Felton, was scanning the crowd for “Star Wars” costumes as she walked around with her dad Dave and 12-year-old brother John.

“It’s fun to have (my father) along,” she said. “We just get to talk and hang out, and share something that we both love.”

With his sons Thomas, 8, and Kaden, 5, nearby, Thomas Henry said he traveled to Delaware’s capital city because they “mostly enjoy seeing everyone dress up and the food.”

And what’s the best part for their dad?

“I just like to make them smile — that’s what drives me,” Mr. Henry said.

Pushing his 3-year-old son in a stroller, Robert Cox, of Camden, said he was loving “the very nice family-friendly environment.

“You get to be outside, you’re not cooped inside or anything like that, especially with all the recent events of the past.

“It’s nice to get out and see people again and, plus, this is a safe environment. It doesn’t feel like anything could go wrong.”
