Crisfield's first Bluegrass & Sunset Festival an 'absolute joy'

CRISFIELD — The Greater Crisfield Action Coalition, together with GTF Productions, hosted the first annual Crisfield Bluegrass & Sunset Festival on Saturday, June 18.

“The festival was a tremendous success and brought many new visitors to Crisfield,” said GCAC’s board president, Frances Martinez Myers. “The music provided by these talented artists was phenomenal and to experience the absolute joy on the faces of all the attendees was thrilling and very rewarding.”

“There was plenty of food and beverage available to all attendees, giving them a taste of Crisfield,” added Jay Tawes, GCAC’s treasurer and local business owner.

Also part of the event were several vendors selling musical instruments and supplies, art, etc. “The wind proved to be a challenge but we powered through making adjustments as necessary to ensure the best possible experience,” Mr. Tawes said.

The entertainment lineup included Blue Crab Crossing, No Spare Time, The U.S. Navy’s Country Current, Tim and Savanna Finch with the Eastman String Band ending with The Travelin’ McCourys. “The music started playing around 11:30 a.m. and continued until almost 9 p.m. as the audience asked for more,” said Tim Finch with GTF Productions and one of the performers.

“There was lots of dancing and toe tapping going on out there with some pretty big smiles. Next year’s event has already been scheduled so hold June 17, 2023.”

“Events like this are very important to Crisfield and a boost to the local economy and we plan to help bring more to the area” Ms. Martinez Myers said.

GCAC expressed its thanks to the many sponsors who without their support none of this would be possible.
