WILMINGTON — Several people were injured in a crash in the parking lot of Salesianum School on Friday night, according to DNREC police, who are handling the investigation.

A 16-year-old from Wilmington driving a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee was reversing from a parking spot and lost control, hitting two parked vehicles, a 2021 Hyundai Accent and a 2009 Cadillac Escalade, according to a release. The Jeep then continued to reverse and struck two individuals sitting on chairs behind the Escalade, trapping a 65-year-old woman under the Jeep. The woman had to be extracted from under the vehicle and was flown to Christiana Hospital by Delaware State Police’s aviation unit, where she was listed in critical but stable condition.

The second victim in the parking lot, a 63-year-old man, as well as a 51-year-old man from Smyrna in the Hyundai, were transported to Christiana Hospital by ambulance for leg injuries. Another passenger in the Hyundai, a 68-year-old Smyrna man, was uninjured. The driver of the Jeep was also uninjured, according to DNREC police.
