Milford man dies in two-vehicle highway crash

MILFORD — An 84-year-old Milford man died Thursday when his vehicle was struck while traveling through a median crossover on Del. 1, Delaware State Police said.

According to authorities, the man was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox that traveled directly into the path of a 2017 Dodge Durango at approximately 4:23 p.m. The Equinox overturned, with the passenger side resting against a hedgerow. The Durango came to rest on the shoulder of Del. 1.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Identification is pending notification of next of kin.

The 30-year-old Dover woman driving the Durango sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Del. 1 north was closed for approximately three hours as the crash was investigated. The closure occurred near Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus.

This collision remains under investigation by the DSP Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit. Anyone with information or who witnessed the crash should contact Master Cpl. Kenneth Argo by calling 644-5020.
