CRISFIELD — The 75th National Hard Crab Derby Committee returns the parade to its route along West Main Street with trophies awarded for the best Crab Derby-themed entry, best float, best golf cart, best group entry, best fire department and best marching band.

Start time is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at the intersection of Somerset Avenue and West Main, and the plan is for parade participants to continue onto Richardson Avenue and turn at Seventh Street to head to Somers Cove Marina where trophies will be handed out in the Crab Bowl.

The registration form is available online at somelibrary.org/crabderby or contact parade chair Ed Goyda at 410-651-0852 or ed.goyda@somelibrary.org.

The parade was on West Main Street for many years until the former Peyton Pharmacy building was condemned and in the interest of safety the route was changed first to Somerset Avenue in 2019 and then Maryland Avenue from the library to 11th Street. The building was torn down in October 2020 and this year it was felt it was time to bring the parade back to its former route for the 75th annual celebration.
