Submitted photo/Nabb Research Center
After 1864, churches across Delmarva cemented themselves at the heart of African-American communities, with many congregants who were formerly enslaved. Under the auspices of the newly formed Delaware Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, five churches represented in the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History & Culture’s digital collections flourished in Dorchester, Somerset, and, later, Wicomico Counties: Metropolitan Methodist Episcopal Church (Princess Anne), Malone Methodist Episcopal Church (Madison), Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church (Fruitland), Friendship ME Church (Allen), and Flower Hill United Methodist Church (Eden). You can explore the transcribed church records in the Nabb Center’s Internet Archive collection by searching “church records” or following this link: https://bit.ly/3tmF610.

SS Peter & Paul students give to Salvation Army
As part of Catholic Schools Week, Saints Peter & Paul Parish and School- SSPP in Easton made posters for first responders and essential workers.
One was presented one to staff at The Salvation Army in Cambridge in recognition of the work the church’s homeless shelter does.
The shelter was also included in their children’s coat drive, receiving quite a number of coats to keep local kids warm. Volunteer Shane Walker accepted some of the coats from SS Peter & Paul’s students.
