DOVER — The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for Dover Jazzercise on Jan. 3 at its new location at 506 Jefferic Blvd. in Dover.

Chamber members and friends joined head instructor Glenenise Parks to celebrate the grand opening.

This new location will allow the instructors to better accommodate the growing interest of this fitness class for the Central Delaware community. It will allow for a more open schedule for more participation and will better accommodate more class times, and the opportunity to collaborate with other fitness instructors seek teaching space. Current and potential attendees can expect less class cancellations and better schedule flexibility.

Dover Jazzercise’s new location will have a permanent sign to increase visibility on Route 13.

“When getting new people in the door, we’ve heard time and time again that they love it and wish they knew about us sooner. Many have driven past our location (Capital Grange) not knowing that we were there. We were limited to putting our flag out surrounding class times therefore, visibility was limited,” Ms. Parks said.

Dover Jazzercise has focused classes dedicated to different muscle groups, activities, and goals. Current classes offered include Dance Mixx, fusion, interval, strength, stretch, core, and more. Group fitness classes are for all skill levels and are perfect for anyone who is not only looking to achieve physical results but also mental benefits as well.

The mission of Dover Jazzercise is to “motivate and inspire people to have a stronger healthier life through fitness.”

“Jazzercise is a dance-based workout fit for everybody and every body. We sweat together, motivate one another, and create our healthiest, happiest selves through movement,” Ms. Parks said.

“In-person or virtual, the Jazzercise community is an uplifting space to share your challenges and successes, feel supported, and celebrate those small wins and big achievements while building lasting relationships.”

Ms. Parks has been an avid Jazzercise advocate ever since starting classes in 2006 and becoming an instructor herself in 2013. The opportunity of buying the business presented itself in 2018, and she seized the opportunity.

“We’ve thrived and attracted new people even during the heart of the pandemic,” Ms. Parks said.

“Everyone in the Jazzercise community loves to volunteer,” Ms. Parks said. “We have partnered with and/or raised funds for Delaware Girls on the Run, My Sister’s Keeper (Wilmington Chapter), Mom’s House is Dover, Caring Hearts Helping Hands, Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Code Purple, and more.”
