Cambridge Waterfront Development, Inc. launches revamped user-friendly website

CAMBRIDGE - Cambridge Waterfront Development, Inc. (CWDI) announced July 9 that it has relaunched its Cambridge Harbor website at the same address, www.cambridgeharbor.org.

According to the non-profit development corporation's leadership, the improved website provides the public with updated and more easily accessed information about the Cambridge Harbor development and CWDI.

“CWDI has worked with the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce to reconstruct the Cambridge Harbor website in response to community input,” said Angie Hengst, CWDI’s President. “The new website has less animation allowing faster access for users to find the most up-to-date information and documents about Cambridge Harbor and CWDI."

It also is more user-friendly across various platforms, Hengst said.

“The website address is the same; however, those who have visited the previous website might need to clear their cache to reach the reconstructed site,” CWDI Executive Director Matt Leonard said.

According to Bill Christopher, Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, the changes were intended to address concerns that CWDI had received from the community, centered around the use of smartphones versus desktop browsers, easier access to documents, and non-intuitive site navigation.

“We also added the President’s blog, calendar, and frequently asked questions. Most of the content on the new site was on the old site it was just harder to find,” Christopher said.

CWDI has contracted with The Chamber to provide general administrative support. To that end, Christopher and his team have been involved in an ongoing effort to streamline public access to CWDI’s vital information.

“We will continue to maintain the website as long as that contract is in place. However, we built the site such that the maintenance will be much less burdensome and can be done by someone with less technical skills,” Christopher said.
