Camden-Wyoming man dies in motorcycle crash

DOVER - A 32-year-old Camden-Wyoming man died in a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon, Delaware State Police said.

The man was operating a Yamaha R6L motorcycle at approximately 3:14 p.m. when it veered to the left and exited Sorghum Mill Road before striking a series of pine trees and coming to rest, authorities said.

The motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. He was transported to an area hospital, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased, police said. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.

No other vehicles were involved in this incident, and no other injuries were reported. Sorghum Mill Road remained closed for approximately two hours while the investigation was being conducted.

The Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the collision. Troopers ask anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Sergeant J. Wheatley by calling 302-698-8451. According to the Delaware Department of Transportation, there have been at least 51 road-related fatalities in the state this year — 36 vehicle occupants, 10 pedestrians, one bicyclist and four motorcyclists.
