Why do you want to serve as Kent County sheriff?

I have devoted my entire adult life to public and community service and have always been passionate about helping people and giving back to the community. I would like to continue to take a commonsense approach to everyday issues that come up in the Sheriff’s Office and resume working with our local and state agencies, volunteer organizations, courts and community services in a collaborative effort to better meet the needs of the public. I want to continue to promote and strengthen diversity in the Office along with transparency and embody professionalism. One of my goals when first elected 4 years ago was to stand up for the everyday people in our community and I will continue to do so.

How can the office best serve the public?

By thoroughly addressing any questions, concerns, or correspondence regarding the services we provide. Strive to adhere to the highest standards and to reflect the diversity of our community members; remain united in our commitment to addressing quality of life issues by engaging in problem- solving partnerships and striving to maintain the trust of our communities and citizens.

Are there any new initiatives or changes you would bring to the office?

The past 4 years, I have made a valiant effort to ensure that we provide information and resources to those in the community, I would like to continue to enhance educational awareness to the public about programs that are available to assist people in keeping their homes before going into foreclosure. The Delaware Foreclosure Mediation Program is just one option of several out there to assist. I personally do not like to see families lose their homes to foreclosure or tax sales, which is not only devastating to them but adds blight to the community. I want to build on constructive relationships with the courts, other agencies, businesses, attorneys, and realtors. I would like to explore the implementation of on-line auctions as conducted by other sheriffs and look into establishing a better system in possibly serving some court documents via email to free up staff, better communication is something that could always improve.
