NEW CASTLE — The Brandywine Valley Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has received a $60,000 grant from Petco Love, formerly known as the Petco Foundation, to support its work for animals across Delaware and in Chester and Delaware counties of Pennsylvania.
The grant focuses on pet retention, a news release stated. The BVSPCA will apply the funding to help families keep their dogs and cats when faced with financial circumstances that could cause the pet to be surrendered to a shelter.
Since its founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, Petco Love has invested $300 million into adoption and other lifesaving efforts, the release stated. The foundation has helped find homes for more than 6.5 million pets through partnerships with more than 4,000 animal adoption agencies.
