WILMINGTON — U.S. Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester, D-Del., announced Dec. 30, 2024, her nominations for 23 Delaware students for admission to United States Service Academies for the Class of 2029.

United States Sen.-elect Blunt Rochester selected the students after each student met with a selection panel that was composed of several community members, including active duty and retired servicemembers.

Each year, members of the United States Congress are charged with nominating top candidates for attendance at four service academies: the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. Nominees must now be accepted by the academies to gain admittance.

“Each of these outstanding students has demonstrated extraordinary leadership skills, strong moral character, and a passion for service,” said Rep. Blunt Rochester. “I am incredibly proud that they are one step closer to having the opportunity to represent our state and nation at one of our prestigious service academies. While this is my last class of nominees as Delaware’s Congresswoman, I look forward to continuing this process as a United States Senator.”
