CAMBRIDGE - February in the galleries features a fiber arts exhibition, “Black History Past and Now,” by Brown Quilters Create and Educate, a Facebook group for quilters and fiber artists. Their mission is to provide a community for members to participate in swaps and sew-alongs as well as to offer classes taught by member volunteers. Their motto, “Each one teach one” has created a fun and exciting fellowship.

Deborah Johnson, a group member from Washington, D.C., is organizing the exhibit, which runs Feb. 4-26. A Second Saturday Artists’ Reception will be held Feb. 12, from 5-7 p.m. Second Saturday will also feature a free Community Day open sewing and quilting workshop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., taught by Deborah Johnson, open to ages 16 and up.

For February in the George B. Todd Performance Hall, DCA presents a jazzy Valentine’s concert on Second Saturday entitled “Songs of Love and Happiness,” with musicians Linda Harris and Felipe Paccagnella. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased online at www.dorchesterarts.org. Proceeds benefit Dorchester Center for the Arts and the Harriet Tubman Museum.

Ms. Harris is a singer and songwriter who performs regularly with the Light Switch Band. She and Mr. Paccagnella have written and recorded 10 original songs. Ms. Harris performs on Delmarva in jazz clubs, festivals and special events as well as clubs and festivals in New Orleans, New York, Myrtle Beach, South Florida, and abroad in Panama, Paris and Venice.

Mr. Paccagnella is an artist based in Columbia who composes, arranges, produces, mixes and sometimes masters various works for artists all over the world. He also performs professionally playing piano, guitar, bass, drums and vocals.

He has performed at festivals and venues large and small, and is the composer, arranger and director for the Light Switch Band.
